WINTER 2008

A trend is defined as a craze or fad. Keep this in mind when building your wardrobe. Also remember that just because it is in style does not mean you should wear it!

Embrace rich colors for autumn and winter in earthy tones such as burnt orange with spruce and ochre.  Wear charcoal and black with plum and merlot.  Add all shades of blue from electric to slate.   Bohemian folklore prints, touches of plaid, and even soft florals—all mixed and matched in small touches for large statements.  Highlight your waist with a skinny belt and wear a hip-length unbuttoned vest with that skinny belt. Carry a big bag with a handle top.  Show off your feminine side with a romantic blouse trimmed with ruffles or bows.  Wear satin for day.  Throw on a military-style trench or a sweater coat.  And don’t forget boots and patterned legwear.  Bring all of the attention back to your beautiful face with a bold necklace!

Trends come and go but personal style stands the test of time. Find your own style and stick with it regardless of what's in vogue for the season.

PLAID is the pattern of the fall.  Whether in glen plaid suiting, windowpane dress shirts or tartan flannel for the weekend, try a bit of plaid in your wardrobe this season.

For an instant wardrobe update wear a VEST this fall.  Take your favorite shirt or sweater and layer on a vest instead of a cardigan or jacket.

The ENGLISH RIDING look is in with peacoats, leather jackets, and dark blue denim for comfortable sport clothes; oxford shirts, cotton flannel pants, a gentleman’s tweed velvet blazer, and pinstripe suits for business.

This season’s top footwear is the DRESS BOOT.  Make it sleek enough for a suit, as in a flat leather Chelsea ankle boot, and yet simple enough for jeans and it will work for both business and casual attire.
